I got to Homegame on the Sunday and proceeded to hear from all and sundry how good the previous two days had been. Looking around at the place, I could well believe it: the first meeting point was a pub that could easily go straight into my top 10 – Masonic Arms, and then there was the Anstruther fish and chips, the town hall for Pictish Trail‘s show, an even better pub called the Dreel Tavern, finishing off in a part-time Chinese restaurant and nightclub called Legend’s!
The poetry reading at Caught By The River’s event in the local Rugby Cub was a lot of fun too, and an honour to take the stage alongside great little performances from Colorama, Kathryn Williams and Pictish Trail, all of whom were brilliant. Special mention has to go to Kieran’s MC-ing.
After the show, we ate and then hit the pub for while. I lost a couple of pool games and then tried to cheer myself up with some Josh T Pearson, as good as ever. Well, I say that, but his in-store at the Rough Trade pop up, in agnès b, Paris for Record Store Day was pretty unsurpassable.
Anyway, thanks to everyone who listened so politely to my poems, clapped and came up to me after and said nice things. It made for a brilliant day.
Thanks to all at Homegame, Fence Records and especially Jeff and of course Danny at Caught By The River for having us.
